November 3, 2026—El Mundo de Castilla y León highlights the autonomous robot developed as part of the RETECHFOR project
The newspaper El Mundo de Castilla y León has published a feature article dedicated to one of the technological developments promoted as part of the RetechFOR: a quadruped robot equipped with artificial intelligence, thermal imaging, and autonomous navigation to support forest fire prevention and suppression efforts.
The publication highlights the work carried out by the Castile and León Institute of Technology (ITCL) together with the project partners and highlights the tests conducted with the participation of technical staff from the Regional Government of Castile and León and SOMACYL to adapt the solution to the real needs of the forestry sector.
The system integrates thermal sensors, LiDAR, and geolocation, enabling the detection of heat sources and the collection of real-time environmental data to improve the safety and effectiveness of field operations.
