Valladolid, June 3, 2025 — Representatives from the State Meteorological Agency (AEMET), the University of León, the Agricultural Technology Institute of Castile and León (ITACYL), and the General Directorate of Natural Heritage met on Monday to establish technical guidelines for collaboration on forest fires. The working session took place under the auspices of the RetechFOR program, a strategic cooperation initiative for forest resilience.
During the meeting, which took place in an atmosphere of cooperation and with a technical focus, participants shared knowledge, experiences, and proposals aimed at improving the response to wildfires, from prevention to operational management. The meeting laid the groundwork for a collaborative framework that promotes applied knowledge and facilitates the adoption of tailored, effective, and sustainable measures.
Through this initiative, the participating institutions are reinforcing their commitment to protecting natural heritage by pooling their scientific, technological, and operational capabilities. Inter-institutional collaboration is emerging as a key tool for addressing the challenges posed by the growing threat of wildfires in the context of climate change.
