Simulation of the Probability of a Wildfire

What is it and what is it used for?

FöcoCyL is a web application that simulates the probability of fire ignition and fire severity under given conditions, and thereby recommends silvicultural measures to minimize the impact of a potential fire through prevention. Although this application is designed for urban-forest interface areas, because it uses spatially continuous base maps, it can be applied to large areas.

The problem it solves

The use of this tool addresses the problem of a lack of information and forest management recommendations that are useful and valid for forest managers and government officials in their decision-making, thereby minimizing the impact of fires through prevention.

"Remote Sensorsand AI Applied to Fire Prevention to Minimize the Impact of Potential Fires"

What makes it innovative?

Minimize the Impact of Fires

The app greatly simplifies the process of obtaining silvicultural recommendations to minimize the impact of fires.

Decision-making

Take advantage of the availability of remote sensing and other data to facilitate decision-making in the urban-forest interface

Expected impact

It is expected that the use of these measures and the implementation of the recommendations will minimize the risk and impact of fires, particularly in urban-forest transition zones.
