What is it and what is it used for?
Silvatech is a digital solution for monitoring forest stands using 3D laser scanning, SLAM, AI, and precision georeferencing. It enables the creation of three-dimensional models of the forest, the measurement of heights, diameters, density, biomass, and vegetation changes, and the transformation of that data into useful information for forest inventories, risk prevention, and technical decision-making.
The problem it solves
It addresses the lack of accurate, up-to-date, and georeferenced forest data. Traditional inventories are costly, time-consuming, infrequent, and have limited ability to detect structural changes, biomass accumulation, pests, decay, or fire risks. Silvatech bridges that gap through more agile, objective, and predictive monitoring.
"Silvatechtransforms forest data into accurate insights to anticipate risks, improve forest management, and accelerate the digitization of rural areas."
What makes it innovative?
"Digital Twins"
Operational integration of terrestrial 3D laser scanners, SLAM, AI/ML, and GNSS RTK to create accurate, comparable, and georeferenced digital forest models (“digital twins”).
Predictive Forest Management
It enables progress toward predictive forest management, capable of detecting risk patterns and supporting preventive decisions in real time or on a regular basis.
Expected impact
Silvatech will improve the regular monitoring of forest stands, preventing the risk of fires and pest infestations, optimize silvicultural practices, reduce inventory costs and time, and strengthen the resilience of forests. Socially, it will promote skilled employment in rural areas and provide small and medium-sized enterprises, local governments, and forest owners with access to advanced digital tools.
